BACKGROUND
With investments of over US$500 million, Globeleq is the fastest growing operating power company solely focused on the emerging markets of Africa, the Americas and Asia. Since 2002 the company has acquired more than 2,000 megawatts (MW) of generation capacity, reaching a total of over 2,800 MW in 21 projects in 16 countries. Globeleq is actively pursuing acquisitions, seeking to more than double its current operating capacity.
SITUATION
Due to its tremendous expansion, the company's telephony infrastructure could not keep up the pace with the growth. Globeleq required a phone system that was self-administrable, scalable, simple to operate, and could easily connect multiple locations.
SOLUTION
Co-nexus designed a highly scalable solution that provides powerful global networking capabilities for future growth. The phone system was designed so that newly added locations around the world could be seamlessly connected when needed.
We custom designed and implemented a training curriculum to ensure that all associates within the company had a full understanding of how to use the new technology on the first day of operation.
RESULTS
With the new system and the training that Co-nexus provided, Globeleq employees are now more productive by taking advantage of the new technology.
The Globeleq IT staff can make changes or updates to their phone system on the fly to meet their dynamic requirements. No longer concerned about scalability, Globaleq now has a system that can expand along with their business.
"With Co-nexus, I knew if I had a problem or even a question, I could just call them up. Their integrity and attention to our needs during every phase simply reinforced our decision to work with Co-nexus. And we're confident we'll earn our ROI with this system in a reasonable period of time. "

Gundle/SLT Environmental, Inc. (GSE) is a leading manufacturer and marketer of geosynthetic lining products and services with a worldwide presence in the following markets: agriculture, aquaculture, canals, civil, golf courses, mining, power, sports fields, storm water retention, waste containment, wastewater, and other industrial applications.
SITUATION
With multiple locations across the United States and around the world, GSE required a new communications system to connect with its remote facilities. Due to the sheer scope of implementing the system across so many locations, GSE was concerned about the impact the project would have on day-to-day business activities and wanted to retain a high level of service and support during and after installation of the equipment.
SOLUTION
Co-nexus designed and installed a 1,200-port VOIP solution in Houston and created a global hub for GSE’s locations. All resources now extend to locations around the world.
RESULTS
All GSE locations are connected and administrable from the global hub. Because the company is now completely networked, telecommunications and long distance expenses have been reduced significantly.
Since Co-nexus provided onsite support and assistance throughout large-scale installation, the implementation was transparent to GSE employees and disruption to daily operations were negligible.
"This team understands our requirements and desires. They work to the best of their ability to provide both short term and long-term solutions."

SITUATION
Quanta’s existing phone system had reached maximum capacity and needed room to grow. With over 140 locations across the United States, Quanta was constantly challenged with managing countless vendor relationships and invoices, the different voice systems would not network together, and there was no single location from which to administer the network.
SOLUTION
Co-nexus delivered a VOIP solution to satisfy Quanta’s growth requirements and set up a centralized network in the corporate offices. All phone systems deployed by Co-nexus can be networked to the corporate system whenever Quanta needs to increase communications between the field and the corporate offices. Quanta can now choose to deal with Co-nexus as a single vendor for multi-site networking. With Co-nexus, Quanta has also reduced the number of vendors and associated invoices, simplifying operations.
RESULTS
Quanta Services now has the ability to increase the phone system size in the corporate location to support necessary growth. With the Co-nexus provided simple programming interface with a Windows look and feel, Quanta’s employees now have a more intuitive, empowering system available to them and Quanta especially liked Co-nexus' ability to support them on a national basis, anywhere Quanta operates.
The managers at Quanta were so pleased with the service and support from Co-nexus that they have contracted with Co-nexus for other locations in the United States and have signed a National Account Contract with guaranteed pricing anywhere in the nation.
Tramontina is a leading manufacturer and distributor of high quality cookware and cutlery. Headquarted in Houston, TX, Tramontina USA is one of the largest corporate affiliates of the Tramontina Group from Brazil, with manufacturing facilities in Wisconsin and Texas.
SITUATION
When the US Headquarters of Tramontina was devastated by a tornado in 2004, the company's US President made the commitment to have the facility operational within one year. Since the company's location covers in excess of 1.5 million square feet, keeping its offices and people connected was a challenge. The client also had an aggressive installation time frame from contract to cutover.
Their previous phone system was antiquated and no longer supported the client's needs. The company operated from multiple sites with no direct way to communicate. Tramontina’s current data and carrier network needed an overhaul and the company wanted a vendor that could provide an end-to-end solution including routers, switches, telephony, and carrier services options.
SOLUTION
Co-nexus installed an end-to-end VOIP solution to keep employees connected throughout the 1.5 million square feet between the corporate and manufacturing facilities and completely upgraded the data network with new routers and switches.
Co-nexus reviewed the available carriers in the area and assisted with the selection and implementation of the circuits for dial tone, Internet connectivity and connectivity between locations.
RESULTS
Co-nexus met the aggressive installation deadlines to ensure that the Tramontina’s phone system was operational on time. With Co-nexus’ assistance, Tramontina was able to work with a single vendor for all voice and data requirements; this allowed Tramontina to focus on other aspects of the massive rebuilding project at a time when resources where stretched thin.
The Co-nexus phone system solution included a Contact Center in the Customer Service group, which has improved responsiveness to client requirements. The system is fully manageable by the IT staff of Tramontina, or at the clients request, Co-nexus can make changes to the system in minutes.
SITUATION
MNP was in the process of building a new corporate office and had outgrown the capabilities of their current telecommunications system. They required a new system that would improve communications with their highly mobile sales force. Timely and efficient communications is a critical component of their business success.
SOLUTION
Co-nexus recommended a Siemens solution and designed a system so that MNP could easily add new technologies or tie-in to other locations. With inherent flexibility, the telecommunications system was created so the client could make their own programming and design changes.
RESULTS
As a testament to the expertise of Co-nexus and reliability of Siemens products, on the day of the cutover, a severe storm knocked out power to the MNP offices. All systems in the building failed, except the Co-nexus system. The Co-nexus phone system continued faultless operation throughout the storm and kept Marshall, Neil & Pauley connected to their clients and employees in the field.
SITUATION
Emerson was in the process of consolidating several locations and taking on additional lease space. Emerson wanted to share a new system and the associated expenses between multiple divisions but still needed to operate autonomously.
Upon contacting their current service provider who had installed a system three years prior, Emerson found that the system had been discontinued and would no longer be supported by the vendor. Emerson then determined that they find a replacement phone system solution.
SOLUTION
Co-nexus designed a single solution that would function as multiple, distinct systems to satisfy the client's requirements to support multiple divisions with a single solution. A single administrator can manage the system or each group can manage their own entity within the system.
The system was installed and phased in on a staggered installation timeframe. Emerson’s operators utilize wireless solutions so that they can handle items away from the console and never miss a call.
Co-nexus also assisted with the selection and management of carrier services to address the client's needs.
RESULTS
Each of the separate Emerson divisions can now communicate by dialing 3 digits. The telephone sets are so powerful yet simple to operate, per user productivity increases are a natural. The company has reduced their expenses by sharing in the communications system versus purchasing several systems as required from other manufacturers. The system is capable of networking to other Emerson locations if desired at some point in the future. Emerson can rest assured that the new system (unlike the previous manufacturer) will not be discontinued and offers scalability to 100's of thousands of ports.
