Globeleq is an operating power company
solely focused on the emerging markets of Africa, the Americas,
and Asia. Launched in 2002 when the UK's CDC Group contributed
both equity capital and its portfolio of power assets to the
new enterprise, Globeleq safely provides clean, reliable electricity,
creating sustainable returns and supporting the development
of the electric power sector in the emerging markets.
With investments of over US$500 million, Globeleq is the fastest
growing operating power company solely focused on the emerging
markets of Africa, the Americas and Asia. Since 2002 the company
has acquired more than 2,000 megawatts (MW) of generation capacity,
reaching a total of over 2,800 MW in 21 projects in 16 countries.
Globeleq is actively pursuing acquisitions, seeking to more than
double its operating capacity.

power purchase agreements in growing emerging markets, positioning
for expansion.
Building on the financial strength of our shareholder,
CDC Group, we are actively seeking to raise capital from third
parties and through the divestiture of non-strategic assets.
SITUATION
Globeleq is one of the world's fastest growing operating power companies.
Since 2002 the company has acquired more than 2,000 megawatts
(MW) of generation capacity in 16 countries and is continuing
to actively pursue acquisitions, seeking to more than double
its operating capacity. The company's telephony infrastructure
could not keep up the pace with the growing global company.
Globeleq required a system that was self-administrable due
to a high level of internal relocations, and a system that
was simple to use and operate.
SOLUTION
Co-nexus designed a highly scalable solution that would provide
powerful global networking capabilities in the future. The solution
was designed so that locations around the world could be
seamlessly connected when the time was right. Co-nexus included
a windows administration console. Co-nexus provided live trainers
with a custom designed curriculum to ensure that all associates
within the company had a full understanding of how to use
the new technology on the first day of operation.
RESULTS
With the new system and the training that Co-nexus provided,
Globeleq employees can now be more productive by taking advantage
of the new technology. The Globeleq IT staff can make changes
or updates on the fly to meet their dynamic requirements. Globeleq
is no longer concerned about scalability. The system will grow
as large as necessary to meet the future demands of this growing
business. The solution selected can be deployed globally so that
Globeleq can choose to standardize on the Co-nexus designed system. |
